Day 5 - July 31
Sailing the Gulf of Lawrence
Port of L’Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland was canceled due to the ships medical emergency return to Halifax on Day 3. The sun came out in the afternoon, and we enjoyed some of the activities on the sport deck. As the sun started to set around 10pm, we saw our first iceberg of the trip.
This was as close to Newfoundland as we got today. The weather was beautiful.
We had a good time on the sports deck which is nicely protected from the wind but with great views.
Tried our hand a lawn bowling, which is not easy on a rocking ship!
The mini putting green was much easier, we both managed several hole in ones!
The two shuttle board courts were being used but we have plenty of days left to take a turn.
Going indoors, we played a game of scrabble, played some more computer poker, backgammon and more memory.
The ship's version of corn hole is called baggo, I'm not sure if you always have to throw over your head, but thats how today's game was played.
Pretty views from the Explorer's lounge.
Another delicious dinner at the Chef's Table restaurant. This was a white chocolate mango filled with mango cream.
Saw our first iceberg off the cost of Newfoundland. Sun was just starting to go down around 9:30pm.
The second iceberg seen on the other side of the ship, this time around 10:30pm!
